The Port of Ferrol has a Security, Environment and Health and Safety Prevention at Work Division that environmentally has the following activities:

•    Environment control network, monitoring environmental parameters such as atmosphere quality, waters, soils…
•    Monitoring and Control of Environmental surveillance programmes of Port Works and Concessionaires.
•    MARPOL waste Management.
•    Environment Information Office.
•    Implementation of the Environmental Management System.
•    Implementation and monitoring Contingency Plans for marine contamination.

The Port Authority began in 2007 the process to own a Meteorological station that will drop information data in real time o fair quality, in order to control environmental impact when certain bulk is downloaded. This station will contribute with velocity and wind direction, temperature, humidity, atmosphere pressure, study of rainfall and particles PM10 concentration values. All these values would be transmitted and stored in a PC equipped with adequate software that will interpret and process the data.
